I decided to attempt something like Shiftry ([link]) again, but this time with only blue, to have a sort of unity with the background. I like the shades of blue used
Unlike Shiftry, Dewgong has shades of the background colored on too, so it blends in well. And I refused to color Dewgong white XD
I like the limited colour palette, but I think this picture could benefit from adding in some purples, and possibly some complementary orange/yellow tones. Having a complement makes the original colour stand out more. Maybe just having some yellow in the foreground, near Dewgong's head would help.
I'm not sure if it was just the brushes you were using, but I think the Dewgong's form could be defined a little more, because it merges into the background a little too much.
The expression is adorable though <3 I want to hug it.
Thanks for the comment And yeah I've tried to work with only blue, and its close shades for this one. I think it'll look better with purple and orange though haha. And yeah was working with new brushes. I like it having a painted look in a way. But yeah I do need to define it more. Planning to try a more defined style after I get my tablet this Sunday
No problem! I did a similar thing the other day, I decided I was going to paint using only one shade of green. The character I picked was N, so I had to depict his different colours as shades of green. The result was interesting, though I think your idea of using only blue on a Pokemon like Dewgong worked better. Tablets do make life easier. <3
And yeah I can't wait to get the tablet. Been wanting one for a few months now. But I don't know if I can get used to not having a display on it. Both a mouse and pen+paper will give a display, but tablets will not But I guess I'll get used to it.
Also, with the tablet I plan to work on a unique comic It's going to have a tad bit of user interaction, and I hope that comic will have an emotional impact on people.
I remember it took me a while to get used to having a tablet. Once I did though, my artwork began to grow in leaps and bounds.
Comicking is fun, I'm enjoying working on my Nuzlocke comic at the moment. It's hard work, but I'm learning a lot. Good luck with yours, I hope you get the impact you want.
And well I must say I'm not gonna make the comic a long storyline thing, with planned plot and all. This one's probably a one-off thing. But well it's going to have 2 parts, with the 2nd part being a hidden twist that's embedded throughout the comic itself. I'm trying to work with emotional words and pictures, and I really hope I don't screw both up.
I don't mind reading oneshots sometimes, and having your storylines already worked out will help you. I know I've just gone and fixed things for my comic story-wise. Hmm, for emotions, maybe try describing how you would feel when confronted with the scene. That way you can tell if your readers will receive a similar impact.
