Aqua Tail by QuietCrystal Aqua Tail by QuietCrystal
This artwork was completed about two weeks ago, but I refrained from uploading it as it's for a contest [link] by :icontheeliteten:

I got assigned Wartortle, and was supposed to make it use either tail whip, aqua tail, withdraw or water pulse. Chose aqua tail as it's one of the more unique moves. Water pulse would be a glowing orb, which I'm pretty sure other people would have done.

On to the artwork. I sketched the whole thing out traditionally, and chances are I messed up the perspective. Looks passable though. Then I colored it in, experimenting with the technique. I must say it turned out quite alright. Though now everything's on one layer, so it's hard to edit the picture to add more stuff now. At least I think the picture's complete in it's own way.

Anyway for the rest of the contestants, good luck as well :D

Pretty good. I think you may have been able to do a bit better, but this is cute :3

Well, it`s already very good. My only tip for improvement is that you could line up the face a bit better and maybe make the mouth a few pixels smaller.
I don`t wanna tell you what to do though. It`s your art. :3

Ahh you can always give me suggestions, which I might consider when I work on other artworks.

Anyway how would you define "make the face a bit better"? People have different opinions on better. It could be the face shape, lighting, emotion, etc etc. You'll really have to be more specific on that. :P

I mean how the facial details are lined up on the head.
I`m terrible at specififying x m x

Well the head is a tad tilted to its right (Your left), so maybe the features look a bit off to the side? XD

Ah, I see :3
I really like this by the way and am not trying to be pushy. It was only a suggestion and now that I noticed they were tilted I understand it :3
I would`ve given you the critique you asked for, however I fail at critiquing. >.>
My first and last critique I ever did sounded like a third grader wrote it... >.>

Haha it's ok you don't have to worry about sounding pushy XD

Anyway when I give critiques I talk about the parts I like and dislike about
- General (Do the characters look right? How about the picture composition?)
- Techniques
- Lighting
- Feel
- Idea (Like, how original the idea is)

I also compliment the artist at the start and end of the critique so it'll go down well with them.
